RIFLEMAN CAMP

Howdy! We just returned from RIFLEMAN CAMP 2024 with Training Northwest in Granite Falls Washington. It was a great weekend with good people and some excellent training! Here are some lessons learned and nuggets we came away with.

  1. Make sure you have your rifle zeroed and you know what distance it is zeroed at. We set everyone up with the 50/200 zero unless they had another zero in mind.

  2. Make sure your gear is secure and doesn't rattle when you run, jump, and go prone. Tape up loose straps, ensure magazine retention when on the move, and MOVE with your gear so you know how it will perform in the heat of battle.

  3. TEST YOUR GEAR! One attendee realized that his Bivy sack was SUB-PAR and did not perform well, but his son's bag worked much better. Now he can swap out his bag and be MUCH MORE comfortable when SHTF.

  4. Get a Cammenga Tritium Compass. IYKYK

  5. Vaseline soaked cotton balls are a good firestarter!

  6. Disposable body wipes are great in a patrol bag.

There were many more takeaways, too many to list! Make sure you are out getting together with like minded folks on a regular basis.

It was definitely a GREAT weekend! I think my biggest take away was the "let it do" and Stretching the rifle, that helped tremendously.
